Attabotics was originally founded in 2015/2016 as a Canadian company headquartered in Calgary, Alberta. After facing financial troubles and burning through nearly $200 million in venture capital and government funding, the original company filed for bankruptcy protection and laid off its workforce in July 2025. In September 2025, LaFayette Systems acquired substantially all of Attabotics' assets and intellectual property out of bankruptcy.
While the brand and its active engineering, business, and manufacturing facility remain in Calgary, the company operates as a subsidiary of the U.S.-based LaFayette Systems group rather than an independent Canadian-owned enterprise.
