Founded in Vancouver, British Columbia in 2015 by Becky Brauer, Dhruv Sood and Husein Rahemtulla. Renewal Funds and Longo Family Capital Corporation. Earlier-stage Canadian private equity backer Yellow Point Equity Partners sold its equity stake in May 2025. In July 2025, U.S.-based growth equity firm SEMCAP Food & Nutrition (headquartered in Wayne, Pennsylvania) acquired a large minority stake in Fresh Prep to support its national expansion. Kate Storey from SEMCAP joined Fresh Prep's Board of Directors, though SEMCAP is a minority shareholder rather than a full owner
